Fats and oils are essential components of complete pet food formulations. They provide energy density (fat supplies approximately 2.25× the energy of protein or carbohydrate per gram), support fat-soluble vitamin absorption, deliver essential fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6), and contribute to coat and skin condition. In dry kibble manufacturing, fats are applied as a post-extrusion surface coating that improves palatability by carrying flavour compounds onto the kibble surface.
Atora supplies animal-derived fats including poultry oil and lard, and fish-derived salmon oil for marine omega-3 delivery. Both natural (rosemary extract, mixed tocopherols) and synthetic antioxidant stabilization options are available, allowing buyers to specify their preferred preservation system based on formulation and labeling requirements.
